H2 has nothing to do with the military vehicle besides the Hummer name, which came from the original civilian version of HMMWV, called Hummer and later changed to Hummer H1. H1 was built by American Motor which has nothing to do with GM. AM sold the Hummer brand to GM, not the production line.
