first of all, this post of yours confirms that you have never had kids (me neither, of course). an 8 month old fetus can be born w/o too much risk, given the technologies we have, let alone a 9 month old fetus. As a matter of fact, a more interesting thing to look at is the insurance companies' policy on baby birth. Insurance companies have to cover babies of premature births, but not fetuses of miscarriage, even though some of them can be saved by modern technologies. And the insurance companies have clear definition of miscarriage (< 28 weeks). So parents have to face this difficult choice: whether spend money to save it or let it go.
2.) I think clear line is definitely needed in our society. W/O it, it would be choatic. Why would you call a driver speeding if he drives 10 miles faster than the limit? Why would a chinese kid can not go to her/his favorite university just because his college entry test score is 1 point less than the entry point?
3.) Not many women around enjoy abortion. But still a lot of them (and their partners) are not careful enough. And you are telling me that after 14 weeks they are still not sure about whether to terminate the pregnancy?
