Gook is a disparaging name for Asians, initially used by US soldiers to refer to Filipinos during the Filipino insurrection of 1899. It was used to disparage Chinese soldiers during the Korean war, and North Vietnamese soldiers in the Vietnam war. Today it is viewed as a racial slur that expresses a hatred towards Asians.
