据苏玉鑫的回应：“本人曾是段老师的博士生（1998年3月至2002年7月），而后去香港做博士后研究。”并称：在涉嫌抄袭的论文上“之所以署了段宝岩老师的名字，是觉得该文是之前工作的延续，署上原导师的名字是应该的。但十分遗憾的是本人并未通知段老师，现在觉得这样做是十分不妥的，本人对擅自署名给相关作者带来的名誉损失深表歉意！”
