zunzhong, I can tell your intention is very good, but most people in Prof. Liao's group (or former members) should avoid getting involved in this incident. In the U.S., in case such things happened, most lab members will keep slient, because they don't want to put their hands on "dirty" things. Only the authors of the paper need to stand out and speak.
