Even if China has the same degree of concentration of wealth, the sheer number of people amplifies the problem. Is there any "network" effect for such a gigantic population? I honestly don't know, but maintain to suspect that any problems elsewhere when applied to China will take on an entirely different magnitude simply due to the number of people involved.
Simply put, if there are 1,000 people with 100 of them occupying 90% of the wealth, what is the likelihood of a revolution pushing for redistribution of wealth? If there are 10M people with 1M of them claiming 90% of the wealth, what is the likelihood of a revolution? Originally, the "wealthy" class only needs to fight off 900 people to keep the status quo, now the "wealthy" class needs to fight off 9M of them.
