I did a clean installation of OS X 10.8 back in July and then restored software and user data one by one, including Adobe, Microsoft Office and many small ones (as well as nearly 300GB of iTunes and iPhoto libraries). None asked me to re-register or re-type serial numbers or whatsoever when restored. It is amazing. Can you do it, Microsoft?

I have a 27" iMAC 2010. It has a Western Digital hard drive. Lucky!
