if you have ever taken art/music critics, you should know how it works. Prof. Dower objectively described the picture as the way the painter intended people to see it. Yours and many others feeling about all this is subjective, and is understandable. However it is difficult to convince an knowldgable objective observer that Prof. Dower took the side of the painter.
