1. Your "substituted a malfunctioing DSL connection with a T1 line for "live" demonstration on a trade show" example is a typical bussiness deception, but not an acceptable manner to achieve bussiness success. If a US company do this and is caught, it's dead and going out of bussiness, no matter how good they claim their products are. No doubt there may be quite a few US companies here or there doing this kind of things, but this doesn't mean this is legitimate or can be done without any punishment. The rule is, you do and you pay, sooner or later.
2. Speaking of Chen Jin, he's not a successful bussinessman at all. Think about this, without the bubles cooked by SJTU, anyone is going to believe his capability of designing and manufacturing enterprise level DSP? for a guy only worked as a test engineer for 2 years? He might be successful in cheating and stealing, but not in chip bussiness, not at all!
3. With above saying, a cheater and stealer without any background in DSP design and manufacturingcan can possibly "build a team that is capable to eventually deliver what they have promised" --- you just try to fool yourself! or think others are just stupid as you. Tell you what, if Chen Jin can build a useful DSP chip by himself, there's no cheaters in this world, but all winners.
