I know about defense industry.

The defense industry is not that big as you think, and it is not the cause of conflicts. It is merely a supporting group. The US involved in many wars since WWII, most of them are geopolitical and economical driven, but not because of defense industry. The number one economical reason has been to ensure the raw material supply and predominantly energy to the western world especially to the US. Geopolical reason is the projection of the US, such as export of the US products and etc. These are also not directly related to the defense industry.
