"[Publishers] sell credibility." With the fierce competitions in the industry, those who stick with this principle will win out in the long term. Some individual cases where journalists lose their jobs because they have told the truth are just an aberrations, not the trend. And usually they can quick find other jobs.
Democracy usually only pertains to government and politics. It is obvious that a company or government branch is run by our fellow human beings, not democracy. Let's not confuse democracy with management style. Even though people can argue whether companies are run on the principle of democracy, let us remember when people sign on, they agree to the whole package including the company's management style, etc. And they are free to leave if they don't like it.
