Those creators/inventors lived or experienced the democratic environment: so they already knew how to be creative thinkers before the bad guys took over.
More importantly, the christian tradition of those country have been totally abandoned: everybody has his own God-given spirit, which can be taken away by another human (except God himself) as saying in the christian tradition.
