Air-surface missiles give air-craft carriers very
little time to react.
When it is clear that there were 100 missiles coming
your way, it is relatively easy to try to intercept them
when you are prepared. However, when a air-plane
approaching without clear identity during a sensitive
time not at the peak of an escalated conflict, defender
faces a tough choice to either react early, risking
bringing down innocent air-craft (Iran air-liner?)
or risking itself.
It is tough.
