I turned on UTF-8 in my firefox everyting went weird except for your text. Here is my user agent:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
I guess what happened was both browser try to have some sort of smart detection; sometime it works sometime it doesn't, depending on the type of broswer and platform.
One should never have mixed encoding in the same page without explicitly declaring it.
