Today they fired my CTO, an engineer I repected and followed for quite a long time. It's really a surprise to me to see someone talking about plan 9 here. Our compay, built by our former CTO, was based on the idea of plan 9 and inferno. Today is really a sad day for me. And re-read what Rob Pike wrote, I have to say that is exactly what is happening now in our company. I don't know that 5 years ago. Now, left bell lab for almost 5 years, I can understand.
I respect people like Rob or Phil, but I have to say that the industry is only interest-driven, and there is not much you can do as an individual.
It's really sad to be an engineer but I have to compromise what you believe, I don't have the gut my CTO has.
