《自然》在1881年就发表过中国人的研究成果

     1881年3月10日出版的Nature第448-449页，刊载的Acoustics in China一
文，是英国人John Fryer(中文名“傅兰雅”，清末江南制造局翻译馆翻译)1880
年6月1日致英国物理学家John Tyndall的信件，这封信的绝大部分是傅氏翻译的。
他在翻译馆的同事和合作者徐寿关于律管管口校正的成果。

     Nature在以Acoustics in China为题发表上述信件的同时，还刊登了英国
物理学家W.H.Stone对徐寿研究结论的解释，并加以编者按语说：
    The following letter to Prof. Tyndall has been sent to us for 
publication by the writer, Mr.Fryer. It will be seen that a really 
scientific modern correction of an old law has been singularly turned 
up from China, and has been substantiated with the most primitive 
appartus.

    可以说，这是傅兰雅代徐寿向Nature投稿而发表的。
