回答: some departments over 70% faculty members originally from Taiwan+preseident 由 henry 于 May 17, 2003 08:46:39:

Professor Chu never worked in UT. Do you know the difference between UT and UH?

He got his BS degree in Taiwan. But his MS and Ph.D. degree are all from US. I know there are many Hong Kong people went to Taiwan for college education because there were only a couple of universities in Hong Kong and it was much cheaper to study in Taiwan. So having a Taiwan degree does not mean he is from Taiwan.

With more and more mainland Chinese students go to US for their Ph.D, I am sure someday there will be a Nobel winner from mainland China (who has his after-49-revolution BS. or MS. education from an mainland Chinese university).

By the way, Professor's Chu's father in law is a famous mathematician from mainland China.
