首先，加入外国籍就意味着不再忠实于中国。看看几个西方国家的入籍誓言就知道加入外国籍的重要条件之一就是对母国的背叛。在法理上，西方国家不希望不忠的公民，中国也同样不需要背叛的公民。这是合情合理的。

美国入籍宣誓誓词：

　　我在这里郑重的宣誓：完全放弃我对以前所属任何外国亲王、君主、国家或主权之公民资格及忠诚，我将支持及护卫美利坚合众国宪法和法律，对抗国內和国外所有的敌人。我将真诚的效忠美国。当法律要求時，我愿为保卫美国拿起武器，当法律要求時，我会为美国做非战斗性之軍事服务，当法律要求時，我会在政府官员指挥下为国家做重要工作，我在此自由宣誓，绝无任何心智障碍、藉口或保留，請上帝帮我。

加拿大入籍宣誓誓词：

I swear (or affirm) that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada and fulfil my duties as a Canadian citizen.

英国入籍宣誓誓词一般为：

I ..... swear by Almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, her heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God.

其次，作为一个公民就会享受中国国内公民的一些权益。比如撤侨。这些对于个人来说可能是免费的，但对于整个国家来说并不是免费的。相当于国内的所有人在为类似的事情掏钱。但在海外的中国人并没有向中国缴纳任何税收。也就是说他们没有为国家尽自己的义务，因此也不能享受一个公民的权益。

第三，作为政府，在法理上需要对自己的公民在海外以保护。这个会将中国卷入不必要的国家纠纷当中去。

因此，虽然我自己的子女出生在美国，将来非常可能成为美国公民。双重国籍对我的子女是有好处的。但我还是非常反对中国双重国籍的主张的。但中国政府可以在考虑血统、亲情的时候，给那些加入外国籍的华人、华侨某些方便。比如尽可能的给华人、华侨的回国方便。比如10年多次往返的签证。在战争期间，中国可以为华人到中国避难以某种方便，甚至可以在考虑中国财力的情况下专门派船派飞机。即使这样，华人也需要尽可能的支付成本。除非证明自己没有能力而需要中国政府减免。除此之外，中国政府并不需要画蛇添足。
