EmmanuelNew York, NY, USAJanuary 11th, 201111:36 amIsn't it a little naive and arrogant from the US military to think other powers and especially China will refrain from muscle showing just to please us and avoid "hurting" our feelings? America has not particularly been "nice" to China or Russia in military affairs since the beginning of the new century. Missile shield in the former Soviet areas, demonstrations of naval and aeronaval power in the chinese Yellow Sea, huge sales of weapons to Taiwan, military operations in Afghanistan -not far from China's mainland- air bases in Kyrghizistan to establish a strong foothold in Central Asia etc...

Who do we think we are? masters of the world? We "reinforce" our deploymnet in Japan. We push taht country to show more hostility towards China. We reinforce South Korea waiting for a crumbling of the North of the korean peninsula that will put our troops at China's door steps. And Mr Gates feels the Chinese are "hostile" because they are testing a stealthy figher/bomber on the day he is visiting?

Speaking of the Pacific ocean the US should accept that China has rights and interests in the area. It is time to behave like a mature power. Not like a spoiled brat so used to bullying everybody else we just can accept that another country may be entitled to defend and promote their own interest. By the way, that J-20 strangely looks like an F-22 Raptor...
