回答: If you have good mastery of all courses of 4-year physics major 由 HunHunSheng 于 2005-4-01, 13:42:04:

It taught me a number of things, the most important ones being:
1. All reference frames are equally good. This leads me to be anti-elitist and pro-democracy politically.
2. All theories must be verified by experiments. There is no such thing as correctness by definition.
3. All experiments must be reproduced. I found many people without physics training fail to document their work (experiments, simulations, etc.) in a way that it can be reproduced.
4. How to design an experiment to find out the most important factor of a process. This skill can be used in many debugging efforts (HW and SW).
5. Good math training. It may not be as rigorous as Math major, but the math knowledge learned in physics major is more intuitive. Moreover, we learned how to translate a real-world problem into a math problem.
6. Basic electronics, which is very important when building a prototype.
7. Basic knowledge in thermal dynamics and mechanics are very valuable in daily life (such as fixing a car).
8. Self-confidence: if you can learn physics, you can learn any science and engineering subjects (well, maybe except mathematics).
9. Last but not least: get to know a lot of smart, straight and honest people.
