there is no such thing as 六星上将, if you meant Pershing.

回答: 为什么外军军衔翻译从来没有这么乱七八糟的问题? 由 2Cul4U4 于 2005-3-31, 11:29:52:

General Pershing's title of rank is General of Armies of the United State, the only other person with the same rank is George Washington (who never held general rank in his life, but President Ford prompted him to that rank and proclaimed no one should never outrank him). There is no insignia for this rank. Pershing was offered to create his own rank, but he didn't, and kept wearing four-star insignia. The only reason some people would think his is a six-star general, because when the rank general of the army was created, Pershing was still alive, and he was senior to those later appointed general of the army. However, since he was a precursor of other five-star generals, they were considered equivlent. Six-star insignia was considered when the war department proposed to promote McArther to General of the Armies like Pershing with a six-star insignia, but the proposal was dropped, and six-star was never created.
