an it does require a dark room for the best result, but when it is optimized, it's no inferior to a 76 inch Plasma(if there is one out there)
One other precaution for front projectors, the life of bulb is expected 4000 hours, that means $300 for every 3 years to me. If you compare to 20000 hour life span of a plasma, that's actually not that bad.
