You may know how the research is conducted, but you may now fully understand where the research starts. The tax payer pay for the research so they deserve to have a complete and clear answer to it which they don't have yet.
Also you simply ignore the possibility that there may be a phamarceutical influence behind all those following papers that fail to repeat the original findings. There is a high public concern for this possibility which the research only can not address sufficiently. Simply speaking, it is more than just a scientific problem.
Many many families have suffered from the increasingly high occurrence of autism which the medicine community hasn't been able to provide a convincing reason. The government also needs to clarify if the research community has been influenced by deep-pocketed special interest groups. This is the point.
