So what? If She is a window through which Hollywood could reach the Latino viewers. Some people will spend time, money and effort to advertise her. As to herself, she was not so bad in "U turn" when she was young, however, at that time she was nobody and way too young. It seems to me most female stars reach the peaks of their carrer at 30's. You must eat a lot of "turd" to reach the top level(pay category).
As to Chinese or American Chinese actress. Both Lucy Liu and Bai Ling suck. However, it is not totally their problems. They have been predefined to several kinds of roles alreday. If they want to break the rules? Sorry, no work, no pay!
Acting is like basketball games, most of the people are supposed to be the "role" player only. Even Michael Jodan didn't reach the summit of his career when he was in his prime(personal ability).
By the way, Jone Chan is not bad. Intelligent and quite good looking(typical Shanghai MM?). She is very good, unfortunately, not good enough.
