FDA warns General Mills over Cheerios health claims

The FDA sent a warning letter to General Mills, saying its claim that Cheerios is "clinically proven to help lower cholesterol" makes the cereal a drug under federal law. A General Mills spokesman said the claim has been used for more than two years, but the company will work with the FDA to resolve the issue.
