I drove by it a couple of times last year. I don't think the medical school had any physical damage.
NOLA is a unique place. If you're a southerner with a certain kind personality, you may love it. But if you got an offer, you should definitely pay a visit before making the decision.

The city in general is going downhill. This may not affect the life of a professional. But I personally wouldn't spend the rest of my life there either.
