Unix, even the early research version, the one didn't even have the name and not exactly an OS (just paper filesystem with batch), takes a team of developers, including Thompson, Ritchie, Canaday , McIlroy, and Ossanna, and later Kernighan. These are just the name of the research department heads/principle reasearchers involved in the early project, not counting the technicians, testers and other junior programmers.
