1. knowing distance on earth, the best is the diameter of earth.
2. one scope on each side of the diameter, setting the two scopes at same reference angle.
3. aiming at center of the sun from each of the scope, measuring the angle against the reference angle.
4. we end up with one distance and one angle, the rest is calculation
