“It is a pity that his disease stopped him from getting more done. He fought too hard against his cancer.. His chemo treatments were so harsh that his immune system was nearly abolished (in addition to taking immune suppression drug for brain radiation). He had a PCP (fungal) infection to the lung. It quickly progressed into a massive lung injury which killed him.

It has always been Jerry's wish to leave a legacy and we will set up a memorial fund for him for either a graduate scholarship or a professorship. A special account has been setup at the University of Connecticut.

Please spread the word that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dr. Yang. Please make checks payable to: The UConn Foundation, Inc., in honor of Dr. Jerry Yang, 2390 Alumni Drive Unit 3206, Storrs, Connecticut 06269, USA.

The date/time/location of the memorial service will be announced on Monday.
