He is holding a rather curious view on GNU/Linux.
When i say he wants GNU/Linux to go back to the stone-age, i was referring to his dislike of most (if not all) GUI based applications.
the "vi" bit is referring to his claim that a normal user can use a CLI based application easily. (but personally, i consider vim is the best editor to date for hacking code)

same to "writing Love letters using Latex" ... Fagus somehow thinks a average computer user will be able to write Love letters using Latex. He didn't say exactly this, but ... you know what i mean. :-)
