LEAD: The acquittal of a former automobile worker last Friday in the beating death of a Chinese-American five years ago has outraged Asian-Americans here and elsewhere who viewed the case as emblematic of racial discrimination against Asians in the United States.
I missed the part about the plea bargain. But that's not as important as the final acquittal!
