The Faculty of Medicine encompasses all faculty of both the Medical School and the Dental School. There are, as of June 2006, 834 Professors, 1,253 Associate Professors, 1,937 Assistant Professors, and 6,066 Annual Appointees including Instructors and Lecturers. The size of the faculty reflects the fact that they are the teachers not only of medical students and graduate students, but also of more than 7,300 trainees in the 18 affiliated institutions. These trainees include interns, residents, clinical fellows, and postdoctoral fellows (research fellows).
