What you said is teh intangible social cost can be very high and I agree it may very well be. But that's what you have to pay for developing your own IP, the knowledge base and the research capability, things took western countries tens of years and hundreds of billion dollars to develop.
Now there is one way to buy this cheap: if you have the advantage of inefficient market on your side. But what is the reality you have today?
