Once did a standup comedy in a David Letterman's Tonight Show where David jokingly cut off his own pants. Everyone Loves Raymond is owned/produced by World Pants Co, which is also owned by Letterman; so Letterman takes a big share of the profit from the sit-com show. Right before the last episode was aired, Raymond was invited to Letterman show again and cut his tie in front of the camera to conclude this long journey with Letterman.
Letterman himself made the fame by appearing in Jonny Carson's show, who died earlier this year. 15 years ago (?) Letterman was supposed to succeed Carson when he retired. But instead the time slot went to big chin Jay Lenon. Letterman was very upset, decidedly walked acrossed the street and brought his show to CBS. That's what we have today - Leno on NBC and Letterman on CBC. Until today these two don't talk to each other and make fun of each other from time to time on their shows. Letterman's defect to CBS was a high drama at that time. Their is a movie or TV special based on the story.
