The worse case senario is that, your name is cited wrong by other people. Usually, non-chinese people can recognize serveral Chinese family names.
It is not very unusual to see Chinese name follow its unique way of writing (i.e. last name first), even in a scientific journal:
For example:
Zhang Chuhan, O. A. Pekau, Jin Feng and Wang Guanglun 'Application of distinct element method in dynamic analysis of high rock slopes and blocky structures' Soil Dyn. Earthq. Eng. No.12, 1997
