just another thought FYI. theoretically, according to John Dewey, a public problem can be defined by the extent to which, say, the Lius' books, have consequences on third parties. as Xiao Yu rightly points at the end of his latest article, he does have the legitimacy to question the co-authors because their books may affect the well-being of many Chinese families in their education. insofar as those consequences are legitimate concerns, Xiao Yu or anyone else for that matter, has the right to critique the books.
