回答: the guy is not 100% wrong, advance heat seeking missiles can be a threat to F22 由 PhonyDoctorPhD 于 2006-2-13, 16:30:56:
when we talk about F-22's 隐身 functionality, we're talking detect and find target in a long distance, say at least 100 miles. As you stated, the extra-red missiles can only find and attack target in a very short range, much less than 100 miles. There's no way for a extra-red guided missile to find, lock and hit a target over a distance of 100 miles. So it's quite stupid for this guy to say an extra-red guided missile can be used to against F-22.
Under a dog fighting scenario, of course you can say extra-red missile can be used to attack F-22, actually any plane with a thermo engine. But what's the super advantage of the F-22? Will it give you a chance to dog fight with it? I doubt. If you can get such close to an F-22 that you can launch your extra-red guided missile to attack him without being sensored, I would say F-22 is a trash that wastes too much taxpayer's dollars.
