Lenovo is good choice, such as their T60 widescreen.

Apple is another choice.

I have purchased 7 laptops for me and my wife in the last 4 years. Mac got the best quality and performance esp. for DVD:), lenovo is also good.

Do not touch Dell and HP. Every single one of them failed on me.
