Genius is one per cent inspiration and ninety-nine per cent perspiration. Accordingly, a 'genius' is often merely a talented person who has done all of his or her homework.
原載於1932年9月Harper's Monthly雜志．中文翻譯為：
天才是百分之一的靈感和百分之九十九的汗水．因此，一個天才常常只是一個有天份的，又完成了所有家庭作業的人．
飞蠓所引第二句，Without the one percent of inspiration, all the perspiration in the world is only a bucket of sweat，應當是Cynthia Sterling的話．
