Although that "minor mistake" is, indeed, a minor, it was not pointed out by any member of the whole team and was showed to the public, even the "chief scientist" could not find anything wrong with the picture, until an amateur found it!
The whole story shows us a warning message: is the team well staffed with professionals? or our professionals just lack the necessary knowledge?
