In the US, different districts, different schools, and different classes all use different text books according to their students' backgrounds and skills. Gifted and Talented classes, for example, use different books than the regular classes. Even with the same text books, students are usually grouped according to their abilities and taught differently.

In China, even when they are using the same text book, it doesn't really mean they are teaching everything according to text books either.
