My home computer (XP) has apparently a worm virus that uses up most the computing time and causes an error that shuts down the machine in a few minutes in Normal Mode. Virtually I could open nothing.

I tried to install Symantec but that does not run in Safe Mode. I restored the machine from the SAFE MODE to an earliest date without luck. So I stuck.

I have been trying to find a bootable CD with anti-virus software. However, I could not find one.

Definitely I don't want to reformat the hard disc to start from the scratch.

Is there anyone who has a suggestion to clean up my machine?
