Three Letter Acronyms (TLA) are too numerous to be taken seriously. One can practically make fun of
any TLA. But quality matters.

Hyundai's turn around story has become legendary
in automobile industry. It is NOT the norm. CEO
Chung Mong Koo is widely recognized as a turn-around
hero. Significant moves under his direction include
bold ones such as breaking Hyundai auto from the
Hyundai conglomory, smart moves such as closely
following the Japanese competitior's quality
practise.

There are far too many attempts to introduce foreign
cars into the major auto markets that fall completely
flat on their face. In fact, there are more *retreat*
than *entry* in recent history.

Therefore, saying that South Korean managed to
move up the ladder provide close to none point of
reference when it comes to predicting Chinese
automobile entry into the US market.

Major brand names that withdraw from the US market
due to combination of quality and safety issues, issues
that are challenging Chinese manufacturor these days,
include:

Lotus
FIAT (Fix It Again Tony)
Citron
Renault
Da Tomso

Lotus reentry recently with its Elise, and guess what,
that has a Toyota 1.8L engine sitting in its
engine bay.
