Ok I did some quick research using Harvad website. I did not find any mentioning on total assets. I would guess if your money is in your house (if it's not multi-million house), and your annual income at the time is below $40,000, you would get full financial support from Harvard. I would like to see a true story that supports my guess.

I notice that almost 20% of the families receiving need-based scholarship assistance from Harvard have incomes above $130,000. So if you can not lower your income, you still have chance :-).
