人不可貌相――――读肖传国(昏教授)候选院士的简历有感

昏教授的大名,在海外大凡关心中国科学尤其是生物科学并常上中文网的多会有所
知。昏教授的几篇关于中国生命科学的雄文,(比如:中国的科技发展不能被自然杂志等牵着鼻子走)在网上广为流传,昏教授自叙的一些事迹成就,很多人都不陌生。 昏教授在网上污言秽语,也是名人轶事,真正的牛人,哪个是“乖孩子”? 网上拥尊其为“昏老”的声音经常从由一群身在海外却日夜渴望回归祖国的学子们创办的“虹桥科教论坛”里传出。遥望虹桥的众多昏粉丝,有时不得不让人感到那是何等一个藏龙卧虎之地。谁是昏教授?有好事者根据教授的IP地址,把在纽约地区的中国留美精英一个个过滤下来,也毫无头绪,于是有人诬蔑说昏教授吹牛,说不定是个在唐人街打工的,如此一来,更增加了昏教授的神秘风采。

2005夏末的一场姓昏大水,不仅把美国冲的昏头转向,一不小心,竟也把牛气冲天的昏教授,不知从哪里也给冲了出来:原来昏教授就是2005年中科院候选院士肖传国教授! 2004年,肖传国教授到他曾经大骂的中科院上海神经所给talk. 神经所的惯例是把所有演讲者的简历在网上公布,这样我们有幸瞻仰到肖传国教授的一生业绩,看了之后,我有十个没想到:

1. 肖/昏教授多年在网上透露关于自己的信息,起码有50%以上,是真实的。比如八十年代公费留学英美。九十年代初即在美国东部某校任教,国内诸多叫人看了昏眩的光彩头衔等等。我原以为多是昏老吹牛,没想到是真的!

2. 肖/昏教授是72-75年湖医的工农兵学员,资格之老,没想到!

3. 肖/昏教授真是NYU的副教授,一个最高学历是硕士的工农兵学员,不用读博,不用博后,到美国仅两年,就成助理教授,后来居然还成了NYU的副教授,而且不是陈晓宁那样ADJUNCT的副教授!虽说英雄不问出身,留美学子,能如此牛B的,还真没想到!

4. 肖/昏教授同时拥有美国NIH一个2百50万美元的RO1 和中国973项目2千5百万人民币,数量之巨,岂止是协和首富,就说是中国科学家首富也不为过,
留美学子,除了吴征,大概无人能比,牛B! 没想到!

5. 肖/昏教授的简历把正式文章,会议摘要,武医校刊和著书全列一块,如此不规范,出自一个美国副教授之手,本人第一次看到,没想到!

6. 肖/昏教授从七十年代初从事科研以来,凡二十五六年,三分之一时间睡行军床,共发正式英文文章5或篇,平均每五年一篇,每篇价值一百万美元,加摘要,会议摘要,武医校刊和著书一块,凡二十五六,平均每年一篇,这样精产昂贵的首席科学家,本人第一次看到,没想到!

7. 至2004年止,肖/昏教授是所有正式文章,会议摘要,武医校刊和著书的第一作者,这样的首席副教授,没想到!

8. 肖/昏教授透露自己带的两个博士生已经成了教授,没有第一作者文章的博士生,却当上了教授,牛! 没想到!

9. 网上的肖教授,批饶毅,批神经所,指点中国生命科学研究的江山,牛B轰轰,现在知道肖教授并没有受过现代分子生物学的系统训练。网上的肖教授时常污言秽语,现在知道,现实生活中的肖传国教授,品行端正,相片上也是一表人才。反差之大,没想到!

10. 肖/昏教授居然成了今年中科院院士候选人,没想到!肖/昏教授居然有今天,没想到!

后记:估计昏教授要和我们在网上永别了。想起昏教授在网上曾经的红火岁月,令人怀念。本人支持肖传国教授以科学劳模的身份当选院士。中国的科技发展和中国院士的鼻子可以被Jack Lapides大奖被NIH的百万美元被秘尿学杂志牵著走,但是中国的科技发展绝不能被自然杂志等牵着鼻子走。
