回答: Higher stress means lower rate of breast cancer 由 HunHunSheng 于 2005-9-13, 08:41:00:
The Danish population (or Scandinavia population in general) are avery interesting population given that 17% of them are in hormone therapy. All of them are very health conscious.
The results (hazard ratio) quoted in the new report are marginally siginficant (e.g., 95% confidence interval: 0.37-0.97), and the p for trend is about 0.02. Given that the population is large (over 6000) and followed up to 20 years, that p value is not very impressive.
In fact, siginficant results only appear among those in hormone therapy. Whether the stress experienced among them are due to hormone is not clear. Furthermore, Hormone therapy is related to the breast cancer, as documented in the Women Health Initiative study.
It surprised me that they left out the smoking status. It has been established that smoking is related to stress, depression, and breast cancer. This is the biggest limitation. They didn't even bother to mention it.
