the Lord of the Rings trilogy (unabridged, read by Rob Inglis). It is a wonderful performance. Another one I enjoyed was a Tale of Two Cities. What a great book. (I remember watching it on TV when I was little and not understanding it).
Don't ever listen to abridged versions. They tend to be so inferior that they will turn you off fast.
