I am convinced that Snape was actually working for Dumbledore, the death of Dumbledore is actually a scheme to bring down Voldermort once and for all. Either Dumbledore is not dead, or in some twisted way, Dumbledore's death is necessary, say the potion he drank was actually the Horcrux , or turing the person who drinks it to one of the Horcruxes or some sort. It still hard to say for sure. Rowling doesn't like Snape much, and she said he should have been closely watched. But it also hints the other way, that Snape is not a person to be friend with but still an ally.
