Unless Chinese has a different standard, s-band wavelength is 15-7.5 cm and C band is 60-30 cm. It is impossible for someone who knows radio telecom to make such stupid mistakes.

C band radar is usually for long range surveillance and tracking, and S band radar is good for target requisition. In the article said the C band radar's range had been 120km, and S band's 300km+. It is at bit far for S band, becuase the range listed by AN/SPY-1 is 100+nm (1 nm is about 1.8 km). This doesn't make sense.

Also, besides range, the radar horizon is very important for shipborne, since the earth surface is curved, and radar requires line of sight, the radar horizon equals to sqrt(2hR) where h is the height of antanna and R is the radius of earth. To extended the radar horizon to say 150km, the antanna would have been a mile high above the ship. For the real military conops, anti-ship missles will likely to be fired under the radar horizon, and get to the ship undetected as close as possible. The counter measure like the real AN/SPY-1, part of Aegis, is to detect and acquires the target and guide missle to intercept in a very short time, say the target may appears in 16km, and shoots it down. Aegis can track about 100+ targets any time, and that is the power, not just the AN/SPY-1 radar, but the whole system.

As for article talked about detecting targets at 375km, blah blah, is all meaningless.
