Gun is your solution to over power the other side?

When a society requires its individual citizen to find ways to protect him or herself, what kind of society is it? A civilized one?

I find it ridiculous for Chinese government to remind its citizen be wary of food poison, counterfeit products..., someone here in the united stats are having the same mind set!
